Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
Tendlo ("we") is an app that helps an adult child ("the carer") look after an ageing parent ("the parent"). Tendlo is run by Ankesh Katiyar, an independent developer in India. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Tendlo app, this website and the WhatsApp and SMS messages Tendlo sends.
What we collect
- Carer account: your name, phone number (used to sign in with a one-time code) and the family members you invite.
- Parent details: the nickname you choose, the parent's phone number, preferred language, and the care information you or the parent add: medicines and dose times, health readings, appointments, documents and renewal dates.
- Messages: the WhatsApp or SMS messages Tendlo sends to the parent and the parent's replies, so we can show you whether a dose was taken or a check-in answered.
- Documents: photos or files you upload (for example a prescription or insurance policy). We may read them automatically to fill in dates and names for you.
- Technical data: basic device and error information needed to keep the app working.
How we use it
- To send the parent reminders and check-ins you set up, and show their replies to the family.
- To remind you about renewals, low medicine stock and missed doses.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not sell personal data, we do not show ads, and we never send marketing messages to a parent's number.
Consent and WhatsApp messages to parents
Before Tendlo sends any reminder, the parent receives one message asking if they agree to receive messages from Tendlo on behalf of their family. Messages are sent only after they agree. The parent can reply STOP at any time and all messages to that number stop immediately. The carer is responsible for having the parent's permission to add them.
Who we share it with
Only the family members in your Tendlo family can see your parent's information. We use a small number of service providers to run Tendlo, who process data only on our instructions: hosting and database (Supabase), messaging (Meta WhatsApp Business Platform, and SMS providers), and, where we read documents automatically, an AI service provider. Some providers may store data outside India. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Health information
Tendlo is a reminder and record-keeping tool, not a medical service. It does not give medical advice or replace a doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account or remove a parent, we delete the related data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your choices
- View, correct or delete information in the app at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted, by emailing us.
- Parents can stop all messages by replying STOP.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to members of your family in Tendlo. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach affects them.
Children
Tendlo is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
Contact and grievances
